Description:

Teeth on roof of mouth sharp, fang-like in 2 rows. Body cream coloured with small, densely spaced, pale brown blotches. Sometimes with occasional dark spots on body.  Head brownish with conspicuous lines of dark dots intersected by narrow dark bars that continue on to anterior body. Dark patch over gill opening. 


Size:

Maturity: Lm unknown. Range unknown. Max Length: 65cm TL. 


Habitat and Ecology:

Benthic in shallow waters, on coral and rocky reefs (depth 1-40m).  Simultaneous hermaphroditism is confirmed for this species.


Fishery Status:

This species is not protected or subject to fishery regulations. It is not typically caught in the artisanal fishery, though it may be caught by people fishing from the rocks.
