Description:

Dorsal spines: 8; Dorsal rays: 9; Anal spines: 2; Anal rays: 8.

Small, deep bodied cardinalfish. 

Colour. Silver body with dark saddle on upper part of caudle peduncle and diaganol dark bar below the eye. Occasionally exhibits a few faint bars on the 
body.

Size:

Maturity: Unknown. Max length: 10.0 cm TL.
 

Habitat and Ecology:

Inhabits lagoons and seaward reefs, (depth 2-25 m). Secretive, sheltering in crevices and under ledges during the day. Solitary. Feeds on small 
invertebrates. Exhibits mouth brooding.

Fishery Status:

This species is not protected or subject to fishery regulations. It is not subject to the artisanal fishery.
