Description:

Dorsal spines: 0; Dorsal rays: 0; Anal spines: 0; Anal rays: 0.
Jaws elongate and arched, meeting only at their tips, elongate canine teeth exposed when mouth closed. Longest canines of the lower jaw are confined to the anterior third of the toothed area. Anterior nostril tube flared at end.
Body tan coloured, paler at head, lower jaw and abdomen with conspicuous white margin to the fins. 
 


Size:

Maturity: Lm unknown. Range unknown. Max Length: 120cm TL. 


Habitat and Ecology:

Inhabits lagoon and seaward reefs (depth 5-35m, usually 5-20m). Solitary in crevices. Feeds at night. 


Fishery Status:

This species is not protected or subject to fishery regulations. It is caught in the trap fishery, but appears to be a rare component of the catch.
