Fishery Status:

This species is not protected or subject to fishery regulations. It is caught in the hand line fishery, but is a rare component of the catch.

Notes:

Since its description by Randall in 2001, the range of this species has been recorded progressively further westward (Mohaptra et al. 2013, Moazzam & Osmany 2015
Roul et al. 2019). The author first recorded this species in the Seychelles artisanal catch in 2016 and twice more in 2018, with a few subsequent records. It does
however appear to be a rare species in the catch. This therefore constitutes a new species record for Seychelles and a significant range extension for Naso reticulatus.
