Information

Description:

Dorsal spines: 4; Dorsal rays: 9; Anal spines: 3; Anal rays: 9.

Elongate, subcylindrical body. Head somewhat flattened dorsally. No adipose eyelid. Pectoral fin moderately long and falcate. Soft dorsal fin origin above origin of 
anal fin and posterior edge falcate. Caudal fin deeply emarginate.

Colour. Silvery body and head, silvery blue-grey dorsally. Pectoral fins yellowish with a black spot at upper base.


Size:

Maturity: Lm unknown. Range unknown. Max Length: 60 cm TL. 
 


Habitat and Ecology:

Inhabits shallow coastal waters. Feeds on detritus and minute benthic invertebrates and algae. Oviparous, eggs are pelagic and non-adhesive.
 


Fishery Status:

This species is not protected or subject to fishery regulations. It is caught in net fisheries, but is an uncommon component of the catch.
