Description:

Dorsal spines 9; Dorsal rays: 28-30; Anal spines: 3; Anal rays: 23-26.

Body blue with white chest and black face. Narrow white band on chin extending to above upper lip. Caudal peduncle and spine yellow. Dorsal fin yellow with white margin and 
black submarginal line. Anal and pelvic fins white. Caudal fin white with broad black margin except posteriorly where the black is submarginal to a narrow white margin.

Maturity: Lm 13.8cm. Range unknown. Max Length: 23 cm TL
 

Inhabits inshore reefs (0-25m depth). May occur singly or in large feeding aggregations. Generally found on reef flats and along upper seaward slopes. Feeds on benthic algae.

This species is not protected or subject to fishery regulations. It is occasionally caught in the fish trap fishery and also in illegal net fishing activities but in both 
cases is a rare component of the catch.
